🩷 This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing stories that remind us why early detection matters.
Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting personal breast cancer stories from members of our own Group and Revive family. Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, a journey, and an important reminder to prioritize your health.
Today, we’re honored to share Lori’s story. 🩷
Lori’s Story:
"I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, just after moving here from California.
"I moved to Iowa in July 2022, bought a house on September 15, started my first day at Revive on October 6, and hosted Thanksgiving for the entire family. Then, the very next day, I received the call that my mammogram was abnormal.
"Biopsies confirmed that the calcifications were precancerous and that a simple procedure called a lumpectomy would take care of those small lesions. Unfortunately, the first lumpectomy wasn’t successful, so I had a second lumpectomy. That procedure was unsuccessful as well.
"After further assessment, I was told that the next step would be a mastectomy to find out definitively what stage of cancer I had.
"The mastectomy was very successful, but it has certainly been a journey of multiple surgeries, reconstruction, and healing, not just physically, but mentally as well. I distinctly remember my doctors telling me that this would be a lengthy process of surgeries that could span well over three to five years. They most certainly were correct!
"On July 21, 2026, I had my sixth, and what will hopefully be my final, breast cancer reconstruction surgery.
"I am so blessed to have the help and support of everyone here at The Group and Revive Med Spa. Thank you so very much to my clients and coworkers who have shown me such kindness and gracious support."

Today, high school students from Pleasant Valley Community School District visited The Group and Revive at The Group Med Spa to get a firsthand look at the many career paths available in women’s health, healthcare, aesthetics, and beyond! 🎓
Students had the opportunity to tour both The Group and Revive, meet members of our teams, learn about a variety of occupations, and hear about the different educational and career journeys that led our staff to where they are today.
A special thank you to Dr. Steines for helping lead the visit, sharing her knowledge across so many areas of our practice, and taking the time to educate and inspire these students. We are also so grateful to our Revive team members and staff throughout The Group who took time to answer questions, share their experiences, and give students a glimpse into their day-to-day roles. 🩺
From clinical care and medical aesthetics to sonography, nursing, administration, and more, it was a great opportunity for students to see just how many different careers come together to care for our patients and clients.
