How Does EXION Work?

EXION is unique in that it offers different therapies to amplify the production of collagen and elastin, leading to firmer, smoother skin and remarkable improvements in other skin imperfections. Incorporating RF and ultrasound energy in cosmetic procedures has been a game changer in beauty treatments and for good reason: Patients experience stronger results without additional risks or recovery time.

MICRONEEDLING

Like traditional microneedling devices, EXION RF microneedling uses a needle-tipped device equipped with fine, hair-like needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger your natural healing process to boost collagen and elastin production—essential proteins that give your skin a plump, youthful appearance and texture.

RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) TECHNOLOGY

RF is a type of electrical current that reaches the deepest layers of skin, producing controlled heat, raising the temperature to between 60-80°C (140-176°F), to boost natural collagen production and increase elastin fibers. RF energy is used to improve signs of aging, skin tightening, and in non-surgical body contouring procedures. In Exion RF microneedling, RF energy promotes more collagen and melts fat cells—just like it does in EMSCULPT neo treatments!

ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGY

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves that reach the skin’s deepest layers with zero discomfort to complement the treatment benefits of Exion Face treatments while also increasing hyaluronic acid (HA) within the skin—a natural substance that helps the skin attract and maintain moisture.

Which treatment is right for me?

We guide our clients to their ideal treatment therapy based on their desired treatment areas and skin concerns. It’s important to us that we offer multiple treatment technologies to provide the most effective and personalized care. Our patients are not one-size-fits-all and neither are the med spa services at our practice!

How many EXION treatments do I need?

The number of treatments varies, but it’s common for patients to see optimal results after 2-5 sessions—we’ll recommend the number you need based on your concerns and anatomy and you can decide from there. We’ll space your sessions 2-4 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and respond.

Is EXION RF microneedling painful?

It’s common to feel a slight pricking and warming sensation, but EXION should not cause intense pain. The device’s refined technology helps limit discomfort and treatments are generally well-tolerated by most patients. We will check in with you throughout your treatment to ensure you are at ease in our care.

What to expect AFTER treatment?

Redness, heat sensation, mild swelling or sensitivity to touch are part of the skin’s natural reaction.
During the healing process you may notice some flaking or grid patterns. Do not touch or scratch them; let them naturally flake off.
Rarely, small crusts, blisters, or burns can develop in the treated area, but they typically slough within one week.
Occasionally, skin can purge causing a mild acne flare-up post-procedure.
Over the next few months, the production of new collagen will gradually improve your skin’s texture and color.

Wait 6 hours before washing the area
Stay well-hydrated
Do not apply makeup for 24-72 hours
Cold compress to calm the skin
Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 30+ daily
Avoid touching the area

Can I combine EXION treatments with other procedures?

Yes, if you’re interested in adding other procedures to your treatment plan for more comprehensive results, we will recommend additional treatments and help you schedule them around your Exion treatments.

Am I a good candidate for EXION?

If you are seeking a non-invasive procedure to address skin aging, texture issues, scarring, or fat reduction, EXION may be just the treatment for you!

Who is NOT an ideal candidate for EXION?

If you have certain health conditions, active skin infections or rosacea, are pregnant, or have metal implants in the desired treatment area, you should avoid EXION. If you are under the active care of a doctor, consult with them before adding any products or treatments to your normal routine. If needed, we would be happy to recommend an effective alternative treatment during a complimentary consultation!
